The ”Märchenprinz” was built in 1991 by Beck & Söhne on Reichenau Island as a sandwich
construction and was originally named ”Frija” by its then owner Pit Burkhardt. In 2008, I,
Georg Bercher, was able to fulfill my dream of acquiring the 30m² Skerry Cruiser. The
purchase was celebrated with an exuberant party with sailing companions and accompanied
by the song ”Märchenprinz.” Consequently, I was compelled to rename the boat to
”Märchenprinz.”
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic Games in 2012 in
Stockholm / Nynäshamn, we loaded the ”Märchenprinz” onto a trailer and embarked on the
long journey. It was an unforgettable experience and a great success for us. The crew at that
time consisted of Skipper Ossi and crew members Georg Bercher, Sepper Kuhn, and
Thomas Leubecher.
