On the first evening of the 2024 Europe Cup the “new” trophy was presented.
Is was on historical location in Sandhamn where the first Europe Cup for in Sk30 was sailed in 1980. It was decided that the Europe Cup was to be sailed every other year in Sweden and every other year in Germany, giving the event its current format.
Since 1980 there has been 19 winners of the Europe Cup in 44 years. The regatta was cancelled once in Germany and in 2020 due to the pandemic.
But there has not been a challenge prize used for the Europe Cup, different trophys has been used and won in the history of the cup. In the preparation for the 2024 Europe Cup the Swedish and German Sk30 sailors worked together to create a trophy to be used for the future, in the same time document the history.
The new Sk30 Europe Cup trophy will be presented to the winner of the 2024 Europe Cup on the evning of Saturday 10th of August at the prizegiving in Sandhamn.
