We have just managed to survive the Christmas and New Year festivities when reality strikes:
The year of the Europe Cup 2024 has started!!
Since the last new-letter in November, the number of boats indicating that they will participate have now reached 27 and we are still in contact with a handful of additional boats. You can always see the latest status in the Participants List.

Yacht of the week

Starting this week we will present one participating yacht per week, every Thursday! We start with one of the 100+ year boats, Ellen III. Please bookmark the Participants List and check in every Thursday evening for the latest presentation.

EC2024 on social media

During the EC2024 we will communicate on a more informal basis trough social media. The account has already been created and will report on all preparations starting today. Please make sure that the whole crew and relatives back home follow for latest information: Instagram – EC2024_Sandhamn_Sweden

Managing the event

The Swedish magazine ”Skärgårdskryssaren” [Sherry cruiser] caught the project manager Bengt Sareyko with a battery of questions to understand what’s going on. Read the article here!

Accommodation in Sandhamn

All skippers on yachts in the current Participants List have received a separate mail on November 30 with the recommendation to start planning for housing during the regatta. Sandhamn have a few different options but you need to schedule early. If you have not made your reservations please reach out to me on e-mail bengt@sareyko.se to see if we can find some alternatives. I still have some rooms at the Sandhamn Seglarhotel reserved for Sk30 sailors.

Stay in Sweden for more races

Planning to stay longer in Sweden? The weekend after the EC2024 (August 17 – 18) many of the Swedish sailors will race a smaller, two day regatta closer to Stockholm called Gäddis Regattan. On Saturday there will be 3 races around the buoys. On Sunday there will be a 2,5 hour distans race around a few island. The race venue is a small island without electricity or running water. We sleep in the boats and the regatta dinner on Saturday evening is outdoors. Overall, a very nice and exotic event that we really would recommend for those that plan to stay a few extra days. We will help you with logistics for the week between races if you like to have some days in Stockholm or other locations in Sweden.
